Koinonia Cooperative Parish (KCP) of the United Methodist Church

Pastor Beryl M. Whipple

“Intelligence plus character-that is the goal of true education.”
-Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Moving forward with an outlook that considers the fate and destiny of all women and men Beryl Whipple continuously prepares to do the work of God. Favorite among the scriptures is Luke 4:18, “The Spirit of The Lord is upon me, because He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.”

Ministerial experience commenced with a Youth Ministerial Internship at the Douglas Memorial Community Church in the historic city of Baltimore. While there he orchestrated numerous youth conferences and retreats that provided young people with opportunities to address and discover answers to social issues through Christ’s teachings. There he was licensed to preach in August 2004 by former pastor Rev. Dr. Raphael G. Warnock, who is now pastor of the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA.  Rev. Whipple has also served as Assistant Pastor of Youth at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC under the tutelage of The Rev. Dr. John Mendez where he led weekly Youth Church services for youth and teenagers. He was ordained into The Gospel ministry in July 2006 by Dr. Mendez. He has also served as an Associate Minister at the Macedonia Baptist Church of Baltimore City under the late Rev. Dr. Marvis P. May Sr.

Rev. Whipple began serving in the United Methodist Church in 2008. His first assignment was a two-point charge; Asbury United Methodist in White Marsh, Maryland and John Wesley United Methodist in Joppa, Maryland. Under his leadership the White Marsh/Joppa Charge introduced a website, launched a Capital Campaign, initiated a preaching course for lay speakers and saw significant increase in attendance.

He currently serves as pastor of the Koinonia Cooperative Parish; Asbury in White Marsh, St. James in Jarrettsville and Tabernacle in Fallston.

Educationally, he is a graduate of Morehouse College where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Religion and Wake Forest University Divinity School where he earned the Masters Degree in Divinity. He also holds the Masters of Science Degree in Church Management from Villanova University. He is currently a student at Wesley Theological Seminary studying for the Doctor of  Ministry in Church Leadership Excellence.

Pastor Whipple is also an active member of the Baltimore Morehouse Alumni Association, serving as Chaplain.
